Cub Scout Parade

On Saturday Ella, John and I watched the boys march in the Teddy Bear Parade.

Ella loved the horses!
We also waved at our Girl Scout friends,
and saw Ty marching for soccer!
We waited for a long time, until finally 4th to the end, the Cub Scouts came by.
Camden is on the bike with the blue bike helmet.
Erik is on the red bike with the red bike helmet.
Once they passed us, we joined them!  I am in the purple shirt and Ella is next to me.
Erik riding away.
The Scouts who didn't have a bike got to ride in the back of the pickup truck!
It was a fun morning!

Girl Scouts

Ella had another girl scout meeting on Thursday.  We have 6 girls now, but only 5 came.  They made Daisy petal flowers and reviewed last year's lessons.
Finally, we are having cooler weather!  It even rained yesterday morning!  Much to the kids' dismay, I walked the kids to school today.

God and Me

Erik and his friend Ty sang "I want to be a Christian in my Heart" today during first service.
Then they lead the congregation in the Lord's Prayer.
Pastor Bill pinned Erik with his God and Me religious emblem pin on his Cub Scout uniform.
Pastor Bill asked him for a high five!
Ty was next.  The boys also completed a 6 week study book as well.

They were so cute!

Random Life Happenings

We have been busy with school and Scouts.  Here are some random pictures from the last week...
Erik was not thrilled about his wig I picked out for him at the store!  I was just teasing him, but he thought I really wanted to buy it for him.  "Oh yeah Erik, it looks GOOD on you!"
The kitty was protesting another evening out for Cub Scouts!  "Go ahead and touch it, go ahead, I won't bite you...nope, go ahead, I am waiting!"

Brian took us out to Red Robin for the first week of school.
The kids were a wee bit tired!
Then Grandma took us out to Red Robin while Daddy while gone on business on the second week of school.  Not so tired now.
Camden getting his Minecraft on with an audience!  Erik's laptop was lagging for lack of memory and his power cord gave out (of course I didn't know this at the time.)  Uncle John came to the rescue for him and fixed it and ordered a new power supply.  He should be back up and running next week!  Whew!

Cub Scout Mud Mayhem

Okay, so the Cub Scouts have the annual event called Mud Mayhem.  You wear your team color shirt (we were the RED team) and then proceed to run through the course and get muddy.  Sounds like fun for boys, right?  I have to say even I was impressed with the quality of the stations, the organization of the event and that the course was a mile long!  It took us about 2 hours to go complete it!
What you don't get to see is the fire truck leaving after emptying its contents into these hug mud pits and once the course hit the woods, my friend Angie and I who were NOT getting muddy had to  climb around these stations in pretty dense forest situations!  Camden is leading the group in the puddle and Erik is in the black with white stripe shorts in the back.
Crawling through muddy tunnels.
It was right about here that Daddy decided to join in to help Erik through this experience.  He wasn't quite big enough to be independent and was weary of how deep the mud puddles actually were!  Jump Erik!
By now the mud was quite unavoidable but Camden was still having fun!  He has come so far from the baby that used to stick his legs in the air on the grass!
Camden on all fours playing in the mud.
This is Erik at the top of Mud Mountain waiting for Daddy to get down the mud slide!
Brian coming out of the mud slide!  Hee hee.  My shadow too.

Brian also shed his and Erik's shoes since they got too slippery to walk in.  Erik kept his black socks on though!  Black socks, they never get dirty, they longer you wear them the blacker they get, someday....  :)
Camden and Mitchell splashing down!
This was a dry stretch before the forest section; climbing/scaling walls.  I heard that these walls were super muddy by the time the day was over.  We were the second group of 15 to go that day!
Erik and Mitchell climbing walls.
Okay, now we head into the forest with a huge spider theme.  This was the spider's nest (unit house covered in black plastic with sprinklers and things hanging down) and Erik WOULD NOT go through it, even with Daddy.  So here he is going around like Mommy did!
Running through the forest, this was a workout by the way just keeping up with the kids!
Getting down and dirty in the forest now!
Army crawling...
Again, too deep for Erik so he hopped on Daddy for a ride!  All the people watching thought it was so funny!  I wish the picture has audio to go with it!
There was plenty more stations but I was getting tired, so here is the end!  The 200 foot slip and slide to wash off that mud!  Camden is on the right.
WooHOO!  Free Falling!
Yeah, Erik didn't want to do the slip and slide either.  Poor boy was so cold and tired, Daddy pulled him through the shower to wash off though.  We got the boys changed and then bought Panda Express bowls and a slice of pizza they had at camp for a hot lunch!  I was hoping the boys would earn a 1/2 inch council segment patch for this, but they came home with a 3 inch mega patch!
"I survived Mud Mayhem!"
