Croup Complications, Again

Ella got Croup again with her cold.  She typically starts the ryder breathing halfway through the night and wakes up with it in the morning.  Some mornings her inhaler is not enough to open the airway.  I can tell when her breathing is really bad because she pulls her legs up, I wonder if other kids do that too?
This was one of those mornings.  Poor miserable Ella.
We got to the ER and they took us straight back where Erik immediately tried to cheer everyone up!
They gave Ella breathing treatments and liquid steroid in grape juice, yuck!  Starting to feel better, see the legs down now?
Lots of waiting...
Twin brothers are great for stealing your apple juice!  I know, I know, germs.  The twins share a room, so they pretty much share germs already.
Catching some early morning ZZZzzzzs.  After a quick nap, the doctors came in and released her to go home.
By lunch Ella was feeling better and wanted some food.  I got her a sprite on the way home from Subway too!  She is back to 100% this morning, just in time for Thanksgiving!

Snow/Ice Day!

The kids had a snow day last week, but the snow was mostly melted by 10am so we headed out to the shopping mall!  My kids NEVER go there, but we tried it out!
The twins decided to ride the Ferris Wheel there, by themselves!
Ella loaded up!  Camden was too tall to ride, but his toe still hurt, so he was good just watching!
Angie had a cargo wagon that she brought for Camden to ride around in!  He had a lot of fun in it and we didn't have to carry our bags or coats either!
We didn't buy much, just a fleece top for each kid and some earrings, but we had fun spoiling the kids!  Here they are shopping for their 25 cent treat!
Then they got our other change and threw it into the fountain and made wishes!  Santa was already out and seeing children with no line, but we didn't go in.
The next morning the kids had school, but typical Oregon weather had frozen the leftover snow to ICE on our streets!  Camden was still on crutches, so I drove him to school for safety.  The twins made it down the driveway and to their bus stop okay.  They stood in the little melted patch of road but the bus never came!
When I returned from getting Camden into the classroom, I had to take the twins to school.  The van made it to school okay because it was down hill, but got stuck coming back up the hill and starting sliding!  I called Brian who had stayed home that day and he coached me into backing it up until it stopped sliding and then he turned it around for me.  Sheesh!   It was mostly melted by pick up though.

School Bits

Camden's classroom updated their bulletin board.  It is an art project about catching snowflakes on your tongue.
Here is Camden's up close!
I went into the school to have breakfast with Ella.  I caught Camden sitting with his classmates!
The kids picked out some chocolates for their teachers.  They decorated their paper bags with Thanksgiving stickers.
They also wrote letters to their teachers telling them why they are thankful for them.  Erik's said:  I love you Mrs. Hawes.  You are the best teacher and I love school.
So cute!

Cub Scout Police Tour

We went on a police tour with my Tiger Den.  I started the year with these 4 boys as my Tigers, but just recently gave them to the other Tiger Den Leader to combine as 1 big den so I can become the Awards/Advancement Chair.
We toured with Stg. Wilkerson again!  He is great with the kids; we toured with Camden's Tiger Den two years ago.
Checking out the evidence lockers...
The adults had more questions than the boys, so the kids were drawn to his laptop that wasn't doing anything!
We went outside to see his police car, but it was freezing!  When he started the car up, it sputtered fluid all over Mike's boot!
I wanted to ask to touch Stg. Wilkerson's bullet proof vest two years ago, but I didn't have the courage.  I asked this year, and once I poked him ALL the Tigers came running over to touch him too!  It was the funniest thing to see.

Skating Party

Madison invited the twins to a skating party!
Ella's skating is really starting to improve!
Erik was nice enough to partner skate with his sister for the Couples skate!
It was a fun but late night!

Camden's Toe

Camden had a bowling ball dropped on his foot last Sunday at a birthday party!  We ended up taking him to urgent care.
It took us about 30 minutes to get him there and he was going into shock.   The PA gave him 3 shots in his foot to numb it and then he finally calmed down and got quiet.
I called Brian to come sit with Camden once I found out they planned to drill a hole in his big toenail to relieve the pressure and drain the blood!  Ew.  He brought Camden's cross necklace that he had been fixing!  Camden wears the cross necklace everyday.
Grandma Bonnie brought Camden his Dog-dog, ahhhh comfort items!
The foot/toe all cleaned up!  His foot/toe wasn't broken just sprained!
They dressed the wound, and off he went on crutches!
The next morning, I wanted to get him off the couch after 6 hours. so we headed to the store for essentials.  He bought, mac & cheese, chips, cookies, and a lego set!
He LOVED driving that car around!
Entertaining himself with his lego set.
Eating lunch on the couch.
Playing Minecraft on the couch!  Last night was the first night he didn't need meds in the middle of the night and we go in today to the doctor to have his toe checked.  If everything looks good, he will be sent back to school tomorrow!

Birthday Parties

Camden had 2 birthday parties this weekend!  First up was the Pool Party.
Camden was ready to go in for the first time without a life jacket!  He  even practiced his swimming a couple of times on his own!
He played some basketball too.
The boys took forever to change, but then it was time for cake and presents!
Camden was a little cold when he got home and wrapped up to read!
Next up was the Bowling Party!
Camden had fun bowling!
They had pizza and cake!
Camden got a good view of Lowell's birthday cake and was very happy about it!  After the boys were hyped up on sugar and greasy with pizza hands, they started bowling/running around and Camden got a bowling ball dropped on his foot!  That is a whole other post...
