Multnomah County Fair 2014

The Cub Scouts went to the Multnomah County Fair to view the art exhibits.  We brought our cans of food to donate to Snow Cap too!

The lady that runs the Art Exhibits always has an art project out for the fair kids to complete and hang up of her art board!
CJ's is top left and Erik's is top right.
Then, we went over to the Mutton Bustin' corral!  Erik decided to ride the real mutton after he found out the cowboys would hold on to him!

Yehaw!
The sheep was really running too!
You have to be under 55 pounds to ride the sheep.  Erik was the only one in our entire group who got to!  For once his size paid off and he got the blue ribbon!
They have a version of a mechanical sheep for the over 55 pound kids!

CJ was the first on it the big kids group!  They really got him flying!

They were a little too rough and CJ came flying off!
Luckily, the yellow cowboy was really paying attention and caught him in mid air!

He said they don't normally give out ribbons to the older kids, but since CJ actually got bucked off, he got one too!  It was a fun day with just my boys!

Cub Scout Tennis

Our Cub Scouts decided to do a sports unit to finish the year and this meeting was Tennis!  Brian and I had a volleyball net that we set up at the local school as a tennis net!

We had the kids bring their racket if they had one and had 5 of our own to share.  We started by running drills on hitting the ball with control (ha, ha) and then serving.

We had partner matches as the boys still had trouble actually hitting the balls!  Brian played referee and I managed the kids on the sidelines.

Even little Erik wanted in on the fun!  He did pretty good with all those bigger boys I must say!  Ella played with all the other siblings on the school's playground!

Afterwards, Brian treated us to TCBY since everyone tried their best!  It was a fun night!  Our last meeting will be floor hockey and then our end of the year party in the backyard!  This year really flew by!

Wilamette National Cemetary

Last night we headed off to Wilamette National Cemetary to place flags on each Veteran's tombstone in honor of the upcoming Memorial Day.
There were 2 cute Girl Scouts there too!
The ceremony was longer than I expected, but nice to hear from the Scoutmaster, a Pastor, a Veteran, and other important people from this community.  The coast guard helicopter flew over us and hovered for our applause too!
They asked all the Veterans to stand, yea Brian!  Brian is a Navy veteran.
The 2 little sisters in our Cub Scout Pack!  They had fun working together placing flags with Madison's Dad.
My 2 respectful boys!  The Scouts were supposed to read the name of the Veteran, place the flag, and salute them for their service and sacrifice.   CJ went off on his own this year and placed a lot of flags!
The Family; Ella is doing her Girl Scout sign!

Erik is under the weather and on pneumonia watch again, so I stuck pretty close to him most the evening.  He got so scared and upset when the 21 rifle salute happened!  He also pooped out at 8pm and I turned around to find him lying in the grass curled up to someone's grave!
So proud of his entire row that he placed!  It was a hot, long, hard event, but worth every minute of it for our Veterans.  This was also the first official Cub Scout event Erik earned a council segment for!

Yellow Flowers

Grandma Bonnie took Erik to get some potting soil and yellow flowers for our flower bed in the front yard.

Erik has a blast digging and planting the flowers.

Erik took a break to hang out in the trees!

Such Adorable!

AWANA Spring Fair

My parents came over to help the twins again this year for AWANA Spring Fair night.  Ella loved Grandma Jill helping her shop with her shares/money from memorizing Bible verses.

CJ spent his shares, fast!  Grandpa Jim spoiled him with buying a few more tickets for him.  When those ran out too, he went out to the soccer field and played with his church friends.

Erik hung out with Grandpa Jim and jumped 3 sessions in a row in the bounce house!  I made the guy kick Erik out in fear of Erik getting overheated or sick!

I convinced him to get his face painted by Mommy again!  I signed up to paint for only the first hour, but we were so busy I painted the entire 2.5 hours with one break to take these pictures!  Well, Grandpa took THIS one.  :)

The red hot, sweaty face with Mommy's painted skateboard!  Thanks Mom and Dad for coming out to help again this year.  The kids had a great time even if is was too hot!

Student Conferences

The kids had their student conferences this week and they are all doing great!  CJ had 4As and 2 Bs and "talks too much" on his report card.

Erik had straight A's in 3rd grade math, 2nd grade reading and 1st grade language as a Kindergartner.

Ella also got straight As and "talk too much".

CJ was chosen as Student of the Week and he filled out his newspaper with such pride and excitement!

The kids had a free dress day today which was perfect for CJ as he got to present himself in his Minecraft outfit!

He brought his Minecraft book to share.

He also brought his 2nd place Speed trophy and a special rock.  I am so proud of my kids!

Playdate

CJ had one of his classmates over for their first time.  They started out playing Minecraft, but they only lasted 30 minutes.

Then it was You Tube for some Minecraft videos with popcorn and pop!

I sent them outside to play off their sugar rush!

The boys got along really well.

Silly boys!
